Terms and conditions
These are the terms you are agreeing to when you advertise on the screen at Bob's Barbers or take a website with it. Plain English, no small print. Current prices are on the advertising page and are confirmed with you before anything is set up - if anything here is not clear, ring Bob's Barbers on 07365 179197 and ask before you sign up.
The short version
One monthly payment covers your advert on the screen, your own website on the front of this one and a place in the card rack. All three are rented — none of them becomes yours. If the payments stop, the advert comes off the screen and the page comes down.
You can move the page onto a name of your own for a one-off build fee, which is lower once you have advertised with Bob's Barbers a while. Keep advertising and there is nothing further to pay for it; stop, and a yearly fee covers the domain and hosting. Current prices are on the advertising page.
1The screen advert
One monthly payment covers three things: your advert on the screen in the shop, your own website on the front of this one, and a place in the card rack in the shop. All three are rented - none of them becomes yours. You pay by Direct Debit and they run for as long as that payment runs. Stop paying and the advert comes off the screen, the website comes down and the cards come out of the rack. There are only so many advert slots on the screen, so a slot is held for you only while you are paying for it.
2The website
Your website is built on the front of this one, at an address on this website, and it is leased rather than owned. The monthly payment covers building it, the hosting, the initial search engine setup, small tweaks as you need them, and keeping it secure and up to date. No domain name is bought and there is nothing for you to register or renew. The website and everything on it stay the property of Bob's Barbers throughout - it is a rental, in the same way the screen space is. If the monthly payment stops, the website comes down.
3What is included, and what is quoted for
Small tweaks are included - changing your opening hours, swapping a photo, correcting your wording, adding a service. Anything bigger is separate work: new sections or pages, a redesign, online booking or shop functions, or any marketing and advertising campaign beyond the initial setup. Just ask - it gets talked through and quoted before any of it starts, so nothing appears on a bill you were not expecting.
4Business cards
Business cards are a separate one-off order, not part of the monthly payment. A run is 1,000 cards including the design, and the artwork is styled to match your screen advert. 500 come to you and 500 stay in the rack in the shop for customers to take. The artwork stays the property of Bob's Barbers unless you buy the site outright; you are welcome to ask for a copy of it at any time.
5A full website of your own
What is described here is a website built on the front of this one. A website on a domain of your own - more pages, online booking, a shop, or anything built to your own design - is a separate job with its own quote and its own terms. Just ask, and it gets talked through properly rather than squeezed into this.
6Buying the website outright
You can move off this website onto a name of your own at any time by paying a one-off build fee. A domain is registered for you, the site is moved onto it, and both the domain and the site are put in your name - they are yours to keep, whether you carry on advertising or not. That fee is lower if you pay 12 months of advertising up front. While you carry on advertising there is nothing further to pay for the domain or the hosting; if you stop advertising, a yearly renewal fee covers those and nothing else. The current figures are on the advertising page, and they are confirmed in writing before you pay anything.
7What the yearly fee does not cover
The yearly renewal covers the domain name and the hosting. It does not include search engine work, changes to the website, adding pages or photos, fixing anything that breaks, or any other technical help. Those are chargeable once you own the site, and are always quoted before any of it is done. While you are still leasing, all of that is included in the monthly payment.
8What you send in
You are responsible for whatever you supply for the screen or the website - your wording, your logo, your photographs and your claims. By sending it you confirm it is yours to use and that it is accurate. Nothing illegal or offensive will be run, nor anything likely to embarrass the shop, and an advert can be taken down if it comes to that. If that happens and it is not something you have done wrong, you get that month back.
9Paying
Payment is by Direct Debit, handled by GoCardless. You are covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee. Your trade is checked for room, then the link to set it up is sent over, and the first payment is taken as soon as it can be after that. Your advert starts once it is live on the screen and your website is up. If a payment fails you will be told and it will be tried again; if it keeps failing the advert comes down until it is sorted.
10Stopping
Say you want to stop and the advert comes off the screen and the website is cancelled. You cancel the Direct Debit at your bank. There is no notice period and no cancellation fee. Part months are not refunded. Anything already paid for runs to the end of the month it covers.
11Your information
What Bob's Barbers does with the details you send in is set out in the privacy notice. In short: they are used to run your advert and to talk to you about it, and nothing else.
